Bain Capital Starts PE Operations In India; Amit Chandra Is India Head

Another global private equity biggie Bain Capital has set its ball rolling in India. The world’s leading private equity fund, which manages over $50 billion, has appointed former DSP Merrill Lynch banker Amit Chandra has its Country Head and Managing Director for India. Prior to the current role, Chandra was one of the managing directors of New Silk Route, an India-focused private equity fund launched by Parag Saxena and former McKinsey CEO Rajat Gupta. Chandra quit NSR late last year.
Bain Capital, founded in 1984 by Bain & Company partners Mitt Romney, T. Coleman Andrews III, and Eric Kriss with just $37 million corpus, has grown to become one of the top five PE funds in the world. (more…) Read Original story
