Located in the Thane district, about 145 kms from Mumbai, is Dahanu. It is a quiet seaside town with a sprawling, uncluttered beach. The entire beach stretch is about 17 kms, lined with casuarinas trees. The Dahanu village is mainly a fishing community. The entire stretch also has fruit orchards and is famous for its chickoos.
